Scholarship holder and intern at Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt and national coordinator of the DBU scholarship program in Poland. Recipient of a government scholarship from the Japan Society for Promotion of Science. Lecturer and intern at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, USA, and at Aarhus University in Denmark. Expert in Eurostat and European Parliament working and task groups. Leader of research projects funded by the National Science Centre. Member of organizing committees and international scientific conferences such as Enviroinfo, Water Economy and Statistics, Risk analysis, international statistical modeling workshops.

Author of over 90 scientific publications on water, global water modeling, natural resources, and environmental issues, particularly interested in bioeconomy (activities based on biotechnology, bioprocesses, and bioproducts) as a possible way to address the problem of depleting natural resources, including water and biodiversity. Speaker at international conferences in China, Japan, the USA, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Greece, Italy, Denmark. Member of international associations and conference organizing committees. Expert in international projects related to the implementation of the Water Framework Directive. Professor at the Wrocław University of Economics and Business, Department of Ecological Economics. He conducts research in ecological economics and development economics focused on sustainable development, with particular emphasis on agriculture, international development policy, and the European Union’s environmental policy (author or co-author of over 130 publications – monographs, scientific articles, chapters in monographs and academic textbooks).’

In his didactic work (over twenty years of experience), he teaches development economics, sustainable development, environmental economics, markets for ecological products, and the history of economic thought. He obtained his PhD in economics in 2002 at the Wrocław University of Economics and his postdoctoral degree in 2014. He has lectured at the University of Porto and at CARINTHIA University of Applied Sciences. He also lectures in the Syracuse University foreign study program (The Culture and Politics of Reconciliation in Central Europe).
He is Vice-Chairman of the Agricultural Sciences Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Katowice Branch, and a member of the board of the Polish Association of Environmental and Natural Resource Economists.

She conducted scientific research during internships at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Austria, Aston Science Park – Aston University, Birmingham, UK, and Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) in Italy.
Scientific interests: economic analysis of the effects of climate change and adaptation, economic instruments in natural disaster risk management and water management, participatory management in environmentally valuable areas.

Co-founder and first chairman of the Board of the Polish Branch of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE). Editor of the Economics and Environment Library and member of the editorial board of the Economics and Environment journal.
