Scientific interests: integrated water resources management in suburban areas subject to suburbanization processes (mainly in metropolitan areas), including problems of local flooding, preventing drought and planning the development of small water retention.

Member of the Presidium and Chairman of the Economic Committee of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools of Poland 2012-2016. Scientific interests include issues of environmental economics and environmental management, energy management, sustainable development theory and practice, ecological policy and its instruments, the market in environmental protection, and the market for organic products. Author or co-author of over 300 articles. Author, co-author or scientific editor of about 30 [compact] publications. He participated in 100 research projects, and was a manager of 16 team-based scientific works and research programs. Participant of 14 international research programs in the field of environmental protection. He received three team awards and one ministerial individual award for scientific achievements. Winner of the Professor Edward Lipiński award of the Polish Economic Society for the book Ecological External Costs.
